The core idea is to introduce an AI-powered assistant within Rayon Design that can interpret natural language prompts to perform complex tasks, effectively acting as a co-pilot for the user.
1. AI-Powered Floor Plan Generation from Prompts
Users could start a project simply by describing their needs in a text prompt. The AI would then generate an initial floor plan based on these requirements.
How it works: A user types a prompt like, "Create a 1200 square feet three-bedroom apartment floor plan with an open-concept kitchen and living area, a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a south-facing balcony on a plot of 40 x 40 feet."
AI's role: The AI parses the prompt, identifies key constraints (area, room count, adjacencies, orientation), and generates a compliant, spatially logical floor plan. This initial layout can then be refined by the user. π¨
Key benefit: This dramatically speeds up the initial conceptual design and massing phase, allowing designers to iterate on ideas much faster.
2. Intelligent Block and Furniture Creation
The AI could also assist in populating the floor plan with appropriate blocks, such as furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), based on context and simple commands.
How it works: After creating a room, the user could select the space and type, "Furnish this as a modern home office for two people" or "Add a standard queen bed, two nightstands, and a dresser to this bedroom."
AI's role: The AI would automatically generate or place pre-existing blocks that fit the description and arrange them logically within the designated space, respecting typical clearances and ergonomic standards.
Key benefit: This automates the tedious process of searching for, placing, and arranging individual blocks, saving significant time and ensuring layouts are practical from the start.
3. Automated Documentation and Scheduling
Once the design is established, the AI could automate the creation of essential documentation, which is often a time-consuming and error-prone task.
How it works: With a single command like, "Generate a door and window schedule for this floor plan," or "Create a room finish schedule," the AI would analyse the entire drawing.
AI's role: It would scan the plan, identify all relevant elements (doors, windows, rooms), extract their properties (dimensions, type, location), and compile this data into neatly formatted schedules and quantity takeoffs. If a door's dimension is changed in the plan from 900mm to 950mm, the AI would automatically update the schedule.
Key benefit: This ensures documentation is always accurate and synchronised with the design, reducing human error and freeing up designers to focus on creative and critical thinking rather than administrative tasks. β
