what is the point of a grid without settings ?

say 1m with 5 divisions would be very useful - or you could enter the module size of your bricks or construction material

Automatically adjust Door and Window Blocks to Wall Thickness

It would be very helpful if it were easier to adjust or modify window and door blocks so that they automatically adapt to the wall thickness.

Ideally, it would be possible to resize them directly on the plan.

Pen input

Since I started using Rayon, my workflow has improved significantly.

I believe it’s the right software for anyone who wants deep control while still keeping the process simple and achieving great results. I also think Rayon Design could be a strong alternative to Morpholio Trace if it offered a dedicated tablet mode.

I use a Surface, and it’s quite frustrating not being able to work properly with the pen.

Adding a proper tablet mode would be the missing piece that allows you to leave the office or studio (after working on a traditional PC) and continue seamlessly on-site, with clients, or construction sites. It’s the feature that truly unlocks portability.

To complete the pen‑input experience, a simple sketch mode would also be extremely valuable.

I hope other people have noticed this need as well, and I’m genuinely curious to hear what you all think 🙂

alternative units on dimensions

I need to work in metric, but show dimensions in imperial.

kind of a PITA right now, despite it being easy to change between units.

AutoCAD has it simple that you just click a box and you have 2 measurements with different units on the same dimension.

add option for detailed wall assemblies

the Wall command would turn very useful for when you need to do more detailed drawings, if it had the option of adding widths for the components of the assembly.

for example instead of just having a 232mm wall, a typical exterior wall assembly could be the following:

. [0.25mm stroke] border line in [stroke colour]

. [19mm] wide solid in [fill colour] labelled 'exterior finish in wood'

. [0.05mm stroke] transition line in [stroke colour]

. [16mm] wide solid in [fill colour] labelled 'furring'

. [0.05mm stroke] transition line in stroke [colour]

. [45mm] wide solid in [fill colour] labelled 'insulated sheathing'

. [0.05mm stroke] transition line in [stroke colour]

. [140mm] wide solid in [fill colour] labelled '2x6 wall'

. [0.05mm stroke] transition line in [stroke colour]

. [12mm] wide solid in [fill colour] labelled '1/2in drywall'

. [0.25mm stroke] border line in [stroke colour]

this would be a property of the wall, that none of the other elements would have to interact with. to keep it simple

accept dimension input on multiple unit systems

sketchup does this well.

independent of the unit system you are working on, it would accept your input: working in mm and you say this offset should be [3ft] or even [3']? it offsets 914.4mm

same thing the other way round: working in ft you input a measurement of [6m]? it should give you 19.685ft

Wall style priorities

Right now wall styles connect randomly together. It would make sense to have at least a few hierarchy level, so that f.e. a concrete wall is always displayed on top.

I'm aware that place them in a layer with a higher hierarchy does prfioritize this 'concrete wall', but the lines are not renders accordingly. Since I think Rayon is very strong graphically, this would add a a lot more ease of reading to the drawings.

Snap to sides of walls

Right now walls only have snapping points on their reference lines. Snappings point on both sides of the thickness would be so much more usefull

Does anybody like adjusting the wall thickness directly from the canvas?

I'm curious if adjusting the wall thickness directly with the mouse in the canvas feels intuitive for anybody. To me this functionality blocks me from the possibility to drag-to-move a wall on the canvas, which is something most architects will use way more often I'd expect.

In addition is would be great to be able to just (f.e.) alt-drag and copy a wall to the direction your mouse is moving, and then type a specific distance. Instead now you have to select it, press C-O-Enter (3 actions), enter the Distance, ánd unnecessarily type in the angle, even though it has been already decided by mouse. That's 5 actions with different inputs (mouse ánd keyboard), which makes it feel very old-fashioned-autocad-cumbersome. I'd opt for the Sketchup method is this situation: A Simple alt-drag, and place with thereafter the possibility to refine the movement by entering the exact distance. Fewer steps, more intuitive.

I'm curious what other people thinks of this.
